I am excited about this online course. It has revitalised my passion for novels story written with fantastically imaginative art and I wanted to share my joy of the craft capturing moments in time and the poetry encapsulated with in them.
Can't draw? Don't worry about it. We will not be doing any drawing as this is a poetry workshop. We will be using pre-existing graphic novels to help us invent poetic narratives.

Join me on this 6-week workshop program that will introduce you to the art of enthralling freeze-framed moments in time and write visually strong & engaging poetry.

Visual Storytelling
Fundamentals of Visual Storytelling in Micro-Narratives - focus on crafting compelling stories using minimal visual elements. This approach emphasizes clarity, brevity, and emotional impact to convey a powerful message and plays a crucial role in the overall storytelling

Explore different poetry forms
Sestinas, Haiku, dialogue poetry are some of the forms we will be exploring.
Ekphrastic Writing - Ekphrasis, for example,is writing vivid emotionally charged descriptions of visuals using language that captures and expands upon a piece of art's themes and imagery.
Create your own 3 - panel comic narratives
Learn how to see story in images. The artform of visual storytelling depends on the viewers ability to notice and pay attention.
Using pre-exisiting images create original poetry and graphic novel narratives we will explore visual poetry to learn how to condense atmosphere, emotion and action and create your own original poetry.
Building 'Poetry ART Story' for this course
My love for poetry and my love for visual art combine here, and as my debut course for thie program series I am collaborating with Poets Built It Online Community to house the bulk of Comic Sequential Art and Poetry Course resources. This will include workshop exercises and writing and visual prompts to inspire you writing.
You don't have to join Poets Built It, however there is an advantage to belonging to an online classroom of attendees who you can swap ideas with.
Poets Built It is a community of poets with aspirations to upgrade their poetry writing skills. In a supportive environment you will be able evolve your writing, expanding your poetic field of vision and exercises with focus your poetic lens. More about Poets Built It - www.poetsbuiltit.com
