Since I started curating the Synergy Slam Poets: TREES workshop program and finding a lot of poems I have around the natural world have a focus on trees. Not something I expected...
We Are Trees
every time
a tree is cut
we
are one step closer
to oblivion
cut into oblivion
they cut in oblivion
We are trees
our Ancestors Souls lace the branches
paper lanterns
strung
as pathways through the boughs
guide the climb
to the highest fruit
closest to the sun protected from
thieves and appropriators
trading on superhighways
of tangled roads
to late success and
sobering irrelevance
